PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

Today’s office professional is responsible for coordinating a variety of office functions including communication, research, training and orientation of staff, budgeting and financial analysis, records management, and new office technology operation and troubleshooting. Further, office professional nowadays is assuming more decision making and managerial responsibilities requiring academic ability, teamwork and independent problem solving.


A program devoted to office information systems, therefore, is considered necessary to address the need for competent & skilled office professionals.

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 

The Associate Degree in Office Information Systems is a 2-year ladderized curriculum that covers a broad range of fundamental business and office management competencies. The Certificate in Office Information Systems, given after successful completion of the first two (2) semesters, exposes students to the fundamental concepts of information systems and a hands-on experience on the development of a simple business information system. The next two (2) semesters prepare students to enter the job market in careers in which accounting, information processing, and computer skills are necessary. Upon successful completion, a Diploma in Office Information Systems is given. Earning the Associate Degree in Office Information Systems qualifies students to fill many diverse positions in the industry or transfer to a baccalaureate or professional degree programs.
